Introduction

The China-ASEAN Legal Training Base is initiated and established by China Law Society. The objectives of the Base is to promote the elites of legal professionals from ASEAN countries to learn the legal system of China, to enhance the close relationship in economic, social and legal field between China and ASEAN countries, and to provide intellectual support to the all-around cooperation of China and ASEAN.

Criteria for Eligibility

  1) 25- 45 years old
2) be mid-career staff engaged in legal practicing with a minimum of 3 years working experience and outstanding performance at work
3) a good working level of English or Chinese is essential. As all parts of the training course will be conducted in Chinese and English with simultaneous translation
4) Although it is not restrictly required, the candidate whose occupation relates to the trade and business with China will be given priority for the 1st Training Course will emphasis on commercial and economic laws
5) in good health

Academic Curriculum

 

We will invite well-known professors, officials and lawyers to give lectures on Chinese legal system for the academic training. There will be one-day training and half-day discussion for each of the following courses:

Theory and Practice on Chinese Market Economy
Legal System of China
Foreign-Related Civil and Commercial Trail and Arbitration in China
Foreign Investment Law
Laws on Enterprise and Company
Property Law and Contract Law
Intellectual Property Law
Laws and Regulations on China-ASEAN FTA
Legal Service of China-ASEAN Expo
Lawyer's Practice in China

Practical Activities

  1) view and emulate a foreign-related arbitration and a foreign-related trail
2) meeting with judges of Higher People's Court, prosecutors of Procuratorate of Guangxi Autonomous Region, or professors who engaged in China-ASEAN legal affairs.
3) Attend the III China-ASEAN Top Forum on Legal Cooperation and Development in Chongqing city.

Expenses

 

China Law Society will be responsible for all the expenses relating to the training course for all the participants in China during the I Training Course, which covers the tuition fee, accommodation, meals, domestic transportation, and the expenses to attend the III China-ASEAN Top Forum on Legal Cooperation and Development in Chongqing.

All the successful applicants are expected to arrive in Nanning on Aug 19, 2007 to attend the Training Course, and leave for home country on Sept 16, 2007 from Chongqing City when all the activities are completed. Please be advised that international round trip transportation and application for visa to China for the participants will be at his or her own expense.

Application Procedure

 

The 1st Training Course is applicable to the ASEAN counties. Every national legal organization or authority could recommend 1-2 candidates and China Law Society will choose 2 persons as successful applicants from all the candidates of each country.

The national legal organization/authority or the applicant himself or herself could send the application form, resume, recommendation letter from the national legal organization and recommendation letter from the employer to us. The deadline for application is July 1, 2007. Please send all the documents to the contact person by express mail before the deadline.
